Shops and Shopkeeper in Norwich 1660-1730
Before the seventeenth century a retail shop in the modern sense was unknown. Authors Ursula Priestley and Alayne Fenner have worked with the probate directories of these businesses to build up a picture of shops and the men and women running the businesses as trade developed.
