Lowestoft Fishermen's War: 1914-1918

This book is about the lives of Lowestoft fishermen (non-combatants) and, where documented, the lives of their families during the Great War. Their story is re-told by using primary source material from the National Archive (ADM 137 Series) and Lowestoft Records Office (Port of Lowestoft Research Society collection); most of which has never been published before. Articles from national and local papers have been used to counterbalance official records.

As civilians their community paid a heavy price with 117 men and boys killed; many of them the main bread winners in the family. By telling their stories, this book recognises their bravery.
