Storm Warriors of the Suffolk Coast

'Storm Warriors of the Suffolk Coast' was first published in 1937. It originally sold at three shillings and sixpence - or if you prefer, about 00.18. I'm sorry we can't do it for that price today!

The original edition didn't have any photographs, but it did use Cooper's remarkable 1905 picture for the dust jacket.

You will find second hand copies of the original but as much of the stock was lost in the London Blitz, it is something of a rarity.

We'll put here some links which we hope will add to your enjoyment of the book. If you haven't yet had the chance to see the short video which introduces the book, click Robert Malster and John Cragie introduce 'Storm Warriors of the Suffolk Coast'.

Activity 1: Cooper's Coastal Map Ernest Read Cooper drew his own map for the inside end covers of the first edition of 'Storm Warriors of the Suffolk Coast'. You can access it here.

Activity 2: More photos from Ernest Read Cooper Many of author Ernest Read Cooper's photos taken whilst Honorary Secretary at Southwold Lifeboat station are used in the new edition of the book Storm Warriors of the Suffolk Coast. However, lack of space precluded them all being shown so we have included some form the book and some not in the book in this gallery. You can read the stories behind these photographs in the book itself.
